July Updates

I am honored to share some exciting news. I have been appointed as the Chair of the Assembly Committee on Military and Veterans Affairs, and I could not be prouder to take on this responsibility.

As many of you know, I have a deep personal connection with veterans. As the daughter and sister of veterans, I know personally the sacrifices our veterans and their families make. Veterans disproportionately experience homelessness, mental health disorders, substance use disorders, post-traumatic stress, and more.

Our veterans deserve unwavering support from the government, and I am committed to making a difference in their lives. This means ensuring they have access to quality healthcare, job training opportunities, and affordable housing. I've seen firsthand how crucial these services are, as my own father's recovery from cancer was made possible through the healthcare provided by the VA, due to his exposure to Agent Orange during his service in Vietnam.

I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to our new Assembly Speaker, Robert Rivas, for entrusting me with this vital role. Together, we will work towards building a better future for our veterans and their families.

I would also like to acknowledge the former Chair, Assemblywoman Esmeralda Soria, for her outstanding leadership. We are collaborating closely to ensure a seamless transition and continue the important work that lies ahead.

I am passionate about supporting those who have served our country, and I am excited about the opportunity to lead this committee and make a positive impact.

Thank you for being a part of this journey with me.

Onward,

State Funding for Project Roomkey Site in Chatsworth

State Funding Secured for Project Roomkey Site in Chatsworth

I'm happy to join Mayor Karen Bass to combine our efforts to bring real solutions to the homelessness crisis. By combining the efforts of the state and city, we have and will continue to secure the crucial funding necessary to make a tangible impact on the lives of those experiencing homelessness in our communities. With a shared commitment to this cause, we are dedicated to implementing innovative programs and fostering partnerships that include prioritizing the development of more permanent housing with supportive services, so people don’t fall back into homelessness once they are housed. I am grateful to have been able to secure $200,000 in state funding to partner with my own community of Chatsworth on part of the housing solution we need to transform lives and stabilize our communities.
